Benjamino unveils the sweetest love story of the modern age with new single 9 Minutes

Benjamino delivers the sweetest love story of the modern age with their first offering for 2025. Cutesy, charming, and downright adorable – this is 9 Minutes.

Overflowing with Latin-infused percussion, dreamy synths, and a groove-inducing bass, 9 Minutes lays the perfect musical foundation to tell the origin of Benjamino’s decade-long romance. Written in 2022 for their 10-year anniversary and recorded at Kiln Studios in Sydney, the track relays the beginning of their high-school sweetheart relationship, capturing the giddy rush of young love in a swirl of warmth and nostalgia.

“This was my first proper attempt at a love song, and did so for my partner for our 10th Anniversary. I’ve never been one for ultra-earnest songs so I wanted the musical setting to be more upbeat and almost celebratory. It was also fun to write with a linear narrative where the chorus evolves each time.” - Benjamino.

After an incredible 2024, Benjamino is stepping into the new year with momentum. Last year saw the release of On Repeat (On Repeat) with meadowhip in February, followed by In The Shadows in March – earning airplay on Triple J and a string of community radio across the country. Alongside their own music, Benjamino’s impact as a producer grew in 2024, working with a range of artists including Ash Grunwald, Phoebe Over, and Lorna. They also brought their artistry to live audiences, performing to thousands at the Coldplay event in Sydney, as well as a regional tour through NSW.

“The last twelve months have been stacked with producing for other artists and lots of live shows. I’ve felt so lucky to work with some really talented and hard working people, and feel like that’s enabled me to step up my game in a big way. The accumulation of experience and practice has brought me to a place where I feel more comfortable with myself as an artist and producer than ever before.” - Benjamino.

Now, Benjamino embarks on their most ambitious project yet: a series of monthly releases leading up to their highly anticipated debut album, Cucino, set for release in September 2025. Each track will offer a taste of what’s to come, weaving personal narratives with immersive production and genre-blending instrumentation.

Marking the start of this exciting journey, 9 Minutes will be available on all streaming platforms on February 28, 2025.
