Benjamino teams up with OPIA for sultry new single Thrill of the Chase
Benjamino returns with another captivating chapter in their 2025 release streak. Seductive, groove-heavy, and brimming with charm – this is Thrill of the Chase.
Fusing Nu-Disco with Alt R&B, Thrill of the Chase is a flirtatious exploration of desire, tension, and the exhilaration of romantic pursuit. The track features vocals from Wollongong/Seoul-based artist OPIA, combining her distinctive delivery with Benjamino’s smooth style and production finesse.
Written in 2023 at the now-defunct DROP Studios during a Friday Night Lights songwriting session, Thrill of the Chase is the result of a rare creative alchemy between a group of local artists. Co-produced by Matthew Unwin (DOS ENOS, Attacking Life film, the track also features contributions from other Wollongong creatives KEENS, MIRAN.DA, and Pistol Black. The result - a funky dance track featuring gang vocals and a spoken-word verse.
Benjamino has dedicated their life to music. From teaching five-year-olds their first piano notes to recording world-renowned artists, the Sydney-based artist has seen it all and has the pure talent to prove it. After a decade of writing and producing for other artists, Benjamino released their first EP in 2020, Open Up The Vault, establishing their iconic, dreamy sound for all to hear.
That sound – rich in soul, groove, and lyrical wit – has earned Benjamino international praise, including support from MTV Australia & NZ, spins on national and community radio, and a standout performance supporting Coldplay in 2024 to thousands of fans.
Over the last 12 months, Benjamino has worked with unstoppable energy. This has resulted in the release of In The Shadows, 9 Minutes, Whataboutism, and Boring With You, garnering support from Triple J, wide-reaching community radio play, and growing international attention.
Thrill of the Chase has seen Benjamino once again add a new dimension to their ever-growing repertoire:
“I love songs that tease out the tension between two people – that almost-cinematic sense of a chase,” says Benjamino. “The crux of the song was written in that one night at DROP, so many ideas were flying around from people; it was the perfect atmosphere to write a dancey track like this one.”
Thrill of the Chase is the fourth single in Benjamino’s ambitious monthly release series, building towards their debut album Cucino, set for release in November 2025. Each track in the series offers a different shade of Benjamino’s sound – blending soul, pop, and indie influences with heartfelt storytelling and luxurious production.
Thrill of the Chase will be available on all streaming platforms on May 30, 2025.

Benjamino’s entire career has been immersed in music—from teaching five-year-olds their first piano notes to recording world-renowned artists, they’ve seen every side of the industry. As a producer, songwriter, and session musician, Benjamino has spent the past decade shaping sounds for multiple artists before stepping into the spotlight with their debut EP, Open Up The Vault.

About OPIA
OPIA, also previously known as ‘BB’ has had a career that has crossed oceans. Collaborating with artists, and producers from both the Australian, and ‘K-Pop’ South Korean music scenes, she’s an artist that has been in and out of studios for the past decade. As a vocalist, she’s known for her clean, cut through pop vocals and ability to effortlessly ‘double track’ her own vocal takes. Working as a sync writer the last few years, OPIA is now working on releasing music with fellow bandmates from ‘Midnight Mare and the Riders’.
